The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) of the North Eastern Railway (NER) has announced its Act Apprentice Recruitment for 2025, offering 1,104 positions across various trades. This initiative aims to provide practical training to eligible candidates under the Apprentices Act, 1961, enhancing their skills and employability in the railway sector.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Educational Qualification:
    • Candidates must have passed the 10th class examination or its equivalent (under the 10+2 examination system) with a minimum of 50% marks.
    • Additionally, candidates should possess the National Trade Certificate (ITI) in the relevant trade issued by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) or State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT).
  2. Age Limit:
    • Applicants should be between 15 and 24 years of age as of the notification date.
    • Age relaxation is applicable as per government norms:
      • SC/ST candidates: 5 years
      • OBC candidates: 3 years
      • Persons with Disabilities (PwD): 10 years

Application Process:

Interested candidates are required to apply online through the official NER website: www.ner.indianrailways.gov.in. The application process involves:

  1. Registration: Create a unique registration ID by providing basic details.
  2. Application Form: Fill in personal, educational, and trade-specific information.
  3. Document Upload: Upload scanned copies of necessary documents, including educational certificates, ITI certificates, caste certificates (if applicable), and a recent passport-sized photograph.
  4. Application Fee Payment: Pay the application fee through the provided online payment gateway.

Application Fee:

  • General and OBC Candidates: Rs. 100/-
  • SC/ST, PwD, and Female Candidates: Exempted from fee

Selection Process:

The selection of candidates will be based on a merit list prepared by taking the average of the percentage marks obtained in both Matriculation (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) and ITI examination, giving equal weightage to both. There will be no written test or interview.

Training Details:

Selected apprentices will undergo training for a period specified for the respective trades, in accordance with the Apprentices Act. During the training, apprentices will be paid a stipend as per the rules.
